Since 2015 MIA | Cinema inherited the best practices and experience of New Cinema Network (NCN), the Roman market for co-production of feature films .
Every year the co-production market presents a selection of projects in development, in line with the demands and needs of producers eligible for co-production , so that they can find the ideal partners for artistic and financial finalization.
For each selected project, the staff of MIA pre-arrange a personalized agenda of one-to-one meetings . Each project is presented with a shortlist of international producers selected through careful research and policy by a constant scouting work carried out in collaboration with the most important international film markets and with the International Board of Advisors of MIA.
As reference point for European and international operators in the market of coproductions, NCN has managed to accompany until the making of the film, more than 50% of the projects selected during the previous competitions. Among these, and just to mention a few titles: PEACE TO US IN OUR DREAMS by Sharunas Bartas (Cannes, Stockholm, Haifa); Laura Bispuri SWORN VIRGIN (Berlin, Tribeca, BFI Flare); JAUJA by Lisandro Alonso (Cannes, San Sebastian, London, Karlovy Vary, Toronto, Busan); The SELFISH GIANT by Clio Barnard (Cannes, Sarajevo, Karlovy Vary, Rio de Janeiro, BFI London); The SOUTH is nothing by Fabio Mollo (Toronto, Berlin, Raindance, San Francisco); ZERO MOTIVATION of Talya Lavie (Tribeca, Vancouver, London, Hong Kong).
NCN confirms, for the seventh consecutive year, the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award: the Council of Europe’s Film Fund, recognizing Rome as one of the most effective European coproduction markets, will award a cash prize of 20,000 euros destined to the development of the best project. The eligibility criteria will be made public shortly before the event.
